Are You Making These 5 Social Media Mistakes?
Whether you're new to managing your business’s social media or not, it's easy to make a few mistakes that can hurt your brand's image, confuse your audience, or affect your reach.
Here are five common social media mistakes you could be making and tips on how to avoid them.
Skipping your logo as your profile pic
With scammers being ever present online these days, there’s already a feeling of mistrust and skepticism from online users. One way to build more credibility with your brand online is to make sure you are using the same logo across all digital platforms (this also helps with brand recognition!) With your logo as your profile photo, there’s less confusion as to which accounts belong to you or uncertainty of the legitimacy of your business.
A bio that’s confusing or missing key info
Your bio is prime real estate—use it wisely! Look over to make sure it’s clear, concise, and includes all the essential details about your business. Don’t leave visitors guessing who you are or what you do. Your bio should answer what product or service you sell, where you’re located, and where to best contact you or learn more about you.
PRO TIP: did you know you can add multiple links in your bio? This means that you can share links for specific events or pages without sacrificing a link to your main website.
Posting the same photos over and over
When I see the same post multiple times in a row on a social media account it makes me think that either you are a bot or you don’t have any new updates, so you are posting the same things just for the sake of posting. This can make your account look stale, unprofessional and spammy. Mix it up with fresh content to keep your audience engaged and inclined to follow your account to keep up on your new and fresh content.
Sharing stuff that doesn’t match your brand
While it’s great to mix up your content and branch off from posting just about your brand, it’s important not to stray too far. Post those behind the scenes pics and posts adjacent to your brand but avoid using your business account as a personal account at all costs!!! It’s a fine balance, and if you have any questions on this, please reach out! I’m happy to provide guidance on this.
Forgetting to link your social accounts to Google My Business
Connecting your social profiles to your Google My Business account helps boost your online presence and makes it easier for customers to find you. This is a super simple yet effective way to enhance your visibility!
